Reclaimed White Oak Great Room

This timber frame was designed to evoke the inside of a boat. Eric A Chase Architecture designed this frame to reflect the client’s passion for sailing. The effect is astounding – a testament to what happens when a clear vision meets sound execution.

We sourced white oak timbers that had already spent 200 years as a barn for a farmer in Wisconsin. We designed special joinery that allowed the frame to be assembled within an existing building. We milled the timbers smooth, crafted our joinery, and then resurfaced the timbers to give them a “hand-hewn” texture.
